Student opportunities and activities
At Neutral Bay Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Our programs include:
- school sport, athletics and inter-school competitions

Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events
Band
Our extensive band program encompasses three bands: Junior, Senior and Concert Band. The bands perform at school events and in community performances.
Choirs
Junior and senior choirs provide students with opportunities to improve singing, pitch, rhythm and overall musicality as well as a chance to make new friends and be part of a supportive team. Performances include both at school and in external concerts such as Festival of Choral Music and The Primary Proms.
Strings
A developing strings group has weekly tutorials and includes performances in The Festival Of Instrumental Music at The Sydney Opera House.
Garden Club
Students can take care of plants, teaching them to be patient and careful whilst learning about plants, soil and sustainable gardening practices.
Student Leadership
Student Leadership opportunities help students to build confidence, teamwork and communication skills. At Neutral Bay, leadership opportunities include:
- School Captains

- Peer mentors and buddies
- Library Monitors
- Event organisers
Excursions
Classroom learning is enhanced by excursions which provide students with an opportunity for further investigation and increased understanding.
Trips and camps
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
